How do you like your school (or alma mater)?

Football Stadium
I've never really understood people who are totally ambivalent about their college of choice. I'll admit I'm just a wee bit obsessed about my university. I go to The Ohio State University (yes- "The" is officially part of our name) and I just love it here. The campus is huge, so there's always something new to discover, but it's broken up into smaller chunks so it's not totally overwhelming. And, in my opinion at least, it's gorgeous. I visited a ton of campuses when I was trying to pick a college, and while plenty of them were pretty (Northwestern, I'm lookin' at you), none of them felt as much like home as Ohio State.

I also love the diverse student population here, something I never got at my small country high school. And I love the mix of academics, research, and (obviously) athletics.

So today I just thought I'd show a little school pride (Go Bucks!) and then ask you- what do you like about your university, if you went to one?

Pictures from our website:

From top: The RPAC (a giant glass workout center that I should go to more often), Mirror Lake (home of the buck ducks), ampitheatre steps (aka where I nap between classes when it's warm), and the massive main library (aka where I nap between classes when it's cold).

And because I'm all about being honest: go here to see what OSU looks like from December to March (winter is on the way, ugh).

  1. I went to Michigan State University (Go Spartans!) and loved it! The campus is gorgeous, especially in the fall when all the leaves change and the spring when the flowering trees start to bloom, and the student population is diverse. I went to a small liberal arts college for my first two years and hated it; MSU just felt like home. :o)

  2. I mostly chose my school because of the program. It was the closest University to where I'm from that had a journalism program.

For the most part I like my school, it is a beautiful campus, and a decent program, but there are also a lot of things I don't like. And, if there was another option closer to home, I probably would have taken it!

  3. The college I went to was pretty much the opposite of yours. It was a small liberal arts school with about 1,000 undergrads. I loved the small community feeling, and with so few students you got a lot of one-on-one attention from your professors by default.
